Discussing your medicine

Tell the doctor which medicines you take and about any allergies. Keep the packaging or a list of names handy. The doctor will assess whether a prescription, including a refill, is appropriate.

Before going to the pharmacy

Confirm the pharmacy address, closing time, stock and required identification. If someone else will collect the medicine, ask the pharmacy what they need to bring.

If you are moving on

Tell the provider if you are changing hotels, travelling to another city or leaving Japan soon. Confirm collection or delivery arrangements before making plans around them.

At the pharmacy

Pay for the medicine separately and keep the receipt for any insurance claim. Ask the pharmacist how to take it and check anything you do not understand before leaving.
